Here "closure" means mathematical and physical self-containment: a closed physical theory may not take an external observer, background manifold, pre-supplied state space, gauge convention, causal order, or field content as primitive. ## Core Idea The program starts from intrinsic comparison data. A comparison is a relation among states, invariant under the symmetries it constitutes, not an externally imposed label.
